AMIR PROJECT

STRATEGIC OUTLOOK

The AMIR integration strategy contributes to the broader European effort to build inclusive, cohesive, and resilient societies by strengthening local capacities and empowering Third Country Nationals (TCNs) as active participants in their integration journeys. It promotes relational trust, autonomy in key areas (housing, employment, financial inclusion), and participatory governance at the local level. Practical, human-centred approaches-integrating digital access and psychosocial wellbeing-support realistic and replicable pathways that reinforce Europe's commitment to inclusive integration, starting from the local level.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

The AMIR integration strategy is shaped by a set of guiding principles that reflect a vision of inclusion as a shared and progressive process, grounded in lived experiences and territorial practices. These principles inform both the project's design and its operational implementation across European contexts

  • Migrants as active agents of their own integration path: We support individuals in becoming informed, aware and resilient, encouraging the development of soft skills, future-oriented planning, and a shift away from emergency-driven responses toward long-term inclusion. Personal growth is supported alongside intercultural openness and relational autonomy.

  • Integration as a community-building process: Beyond individual adaptation, we aim to create enabling environments that foster positive encounters, mutual recognition and shared responsibility. Successful local experiences are recognised, valued and made visible.

  • Sharing what works: The project invests in building multilevel learning communities-locally, regionally, nationally and at the EU level-so that effective practices can be adapted, scaled, and institutionalised.

  • Focus on intersectional vulnerabilities: We pay particular attention to the overlapping barriers faced by women, youth, persons with disabilities, those with fragile health, and people in irregular or precarious legal conditions, ensuring tailored and equitable approaches.

  • Commitment to structural access: We actively engage in removing the persistent obstacles that prevent migrants from accessing decent housing, fair employment and inclusive financial systems, recognising these as non-negotiable pillars of meaningful integration.

  • Tackling discrimination and promoting inclusive narratives: Combating bias and fostering intercultural understanding through awareness-raising and inclusive communication.
